Dogs that need URGENT help:
Some of our dogs need urgent medical attention. Most of the time, a decision to save a dog's life comes down to our ability to pay for his or her medical care and rising vet bills. Other dogs desperately need a home before their time is running out. Are you able to adopt or foster?

Cyrus
Labeled by animal control staff as too ugly to be housed with the other dogs at a public animal shelter, Cyrus was banished to a cage far out of view from prospective adopters – doomed to wait out his mandatory hold period and then to be destroyed. Fortunately, German Shepherd Rescue learned about Cyrus just in time to save his life! Now we need your help to raise the funds needed to help Cyrus become the magnificent dog he once was. HIS VET BILLS HAVE ALREADY TOPPED THE $2,000 MARK – AND HE’S STILL UNDERGOING TREATMENT.

Munich
Update 10/9/05
At a recent adoption event, we noticed that Munich was not putting any weight on his rear leg and he appeared quite lethargic. He is currently at our vet undergoing tests to determine why he's not feeling well. Our vet has recommended that we have an orthopedic specialist examine Munich to tell us what is going on. We are bracing ourselves for an expensive surgery because we want Munich to have whatever treatment he needs to find relief. Danny
Poor Danny just can't catch a break! (See pictures of him in the right column as well). He has been waiting for his forever home for almost a year because he prefers a woman-only home. As if this wasn't sad enough, recently we discovered that Danny's hip dysplasia was causing him significant pain so our orthopedic specialist advised us to take steps to improve Danny's quality of life. We were advised that Danny would do well with a salvage procedure known as an FHO, which involves a reshaping of the hip socket to relieve stress on the joint.

Every now and then we get special cases that need extreme medical attention due to abuse, starvation, beatings, neglect or other horrific things.
