Say "hello" to Hugo.

I Like Kitties!   Volunteer Favorite!   Please Foster Me!

To look at this stunning boy you would never know the heartache he has endured... Hugo was born on December 28, 2007. He is the offspring of an active police K-9. We do not understand how police are allowed to breed their dogs and sell the puppies for profit. Hugo is a perfect example of why this practice should be outlawed. Sadly, Hugo was sold to a family that turned out to be heartless. At just 2 years old Hugo found himself thrown away in the most heartless way imaginable...

On Christmas Eve, Hugos family took him to a local high kill animal shelter and put him in the overnight box. Yes, shelters have outside metal cages where you can dump your dog like you would your garbage. As the family walked away a kind animal control officer asked why they would do this to their dog on Christmas Eve. They informed him that where they lived they could only have one dog, and they had gotten their Son a puppy for Christmas.

Poor Hugo just sat in the outside cage shivering and wondering what had just happened to him. The office called one of GSROC volunteers who happened to be answering her phone on Christmas Eve... When she heard Hugos plight, her heart broke. Even though GSROC is beyond full, and the bank account is not a pretty sight, we could not let Hugo die... Animal Control could not release him that night, so the officer went and took Hugo out of the cage and let him stay in the office with him, he felt so bad for this dog.

While his family was snug in their beds, with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads, Hugo was on the cold floor of an animal shelter office with a stranger.

Hugo has no ill feelings... He loves people and other dogs. He just might be good with the kitties as well. He loves to go in the car and is the perfect passenger. Hugo is 2 years young and a total sweetheart.
